I just got my first smartphones on 11th June. I am not a person who is too keen on smartphones especially when the price is really expensive. However, I was really obsessed with this new HTC for a few days after seeing an ad on the cool function of its HTC Sense. So far, there is no problem with the phone. It is actually very good as I have addicted playing with some of the free games that I have downloaded from the android marketplace. I actually charged my phone for 3 times per day due to heavy usage of gaming.. :)

I love angels, fairies, pixies & other magical creatures a lot since I was small. I believe that this different kind of creatures have some magical power & they are always near us. I would love to be able to see them just for once. I think I'm a dreamer that lives in a fantasy of my own.

This drawing was drawn a few years back when I was back in my uni time. In this drawing, the fairy was drawn in pencil whereas the surrounding was drawn in crayons.

Hi guys....This is a wedding ceremony notice that I did for Michelle's brother. I drew the image of the bride and the bridegroom on a piece of paper. Potrait or Caricature??

I just started to learn how to draw caricature. I'm not sure what I have done is a potrait or caricature. But I don't really know how to create both of them yet.

I came across a site about how to crosshatch a sketch. From there, I give myself a first try on sketching the image used in the site. I don't really know whether it is a potrait or a caricature...

Once upon a time, there was a planet named "Lovely" because of the lovely shape it have.

In this Lovely planet, all the fruits are extra big & they eat human. Humans are part of their food chain. "HELP!!!! Anyone please help me...." , a boy yelled desperately. He was totally surrounded by a group of flesh eating fruits.

Not far away, Musca Man is having a fun time going through the various collection of rubbish in the rubbish bin. His antenna sensed an alarm. Musca Man quickly transformed.

As Musca Man hurried to the crime scene, he tripped over a stone & fell on the ground pushing all the villain fruits into the hill. All the fruits were crushed & they became Musca Domestica Crush.

Andrew: WOW....Okie grandpa, you can have one of the Musca Domestica Crush.

Animated Elephant

This is an animated elephant. My very first try of creating animated illustration.

Tutorial to Create an Animated Image
**********************************
1. First of all, get an image that you want it to be animated. I drew the elephant on a piece of paper before I captured the image using a camera. After that, the image was outlined and colored using Adobe Illustrator.

2. Create two different view of the elephant so that you can see it animated in the scene later on. Save them as two different images.

3. Using Adobe Photoshop, go to Window ->Animation. Now, a new animation frames can be seen at the bottom of the Window. Open both of the images in the window.

4. In the Animation Window, click at the small arrow on the right. Choose "Makes Frames from Layers". With this, an animation will be automatically created depending of the number of layers available.

5. Select the delay time for each of the frames created.

Valentine's Handmade Card

Here is a handmade Valentine's card that I did today. Before starting to get myself dirty with glue & stuffs, I prepared all the things that I need to do the card (lots of color papers, images, handmade craft) The images that I used in this card was drawn using pencil which later on was outlined using Pilot pen. After that, I used Copic markers to color them. Then, the process of cutting the images took place.

Headers for Beauty Blogs

This is what I have been playing around today. Some blog header design. The headers below are created using Adobe Illustrator CS3. All the pretty girls down there are firstly drawn on paper before I actually captured the image using a camera. After that as usual, I outlined the whole illustration again using a Pen tool in Illustrator. Then, the same process to colored the whole illustration take place. After all those hard work you will actually get the results you have always wanted.

It is not that easy to generate idea all at one time. So, is normal for you to create something not that nice at the first place then slowly working to improve it bit by bit as your inspiration & creativity comes along....So keep on trying & trying whenever you feel stress or losing out of idea.

The Potato Couch Workout

Hi.. It has been quite a while since I last entered a contest in 99Designs.com. Today, I'm quite proud of myself. I actually completed 1 design for the Potato Couch Workout contest. It is actually a series of card that the contest holder wanted to do. The winner got the chance to designs the whole series of the card.

First, I take a photograph of the design drawn (another option if you don't have a scanner). Then, I used Adobe Illustrator to redraw the outline. I have actually tried in with Adobe Photoshop as well however, there are certain criterias that made me choose Adobe Illustrator at the end. After that, I color the design. Finally, put down some shadows on the design to make the character looks more realistic.

For your information, you can either use Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop to color your t illustration. It is really up to you. Both of the softwares are almost the same but not quite. The way you do something in Illustrator is different compare to Photoshop. You can play around with both of the tools & see which one really suits you.

This is the potato character I come up with.

This is the final product after, 5 hours of hard work. What do you think? I have always wanted to become a hardcore illustrator. I envy those who really good at it. This is all my hard work after trying & trying few times. I always wanted to know how some of the illustrators can have a smooth texture on the illustrations they did. Always post those questions to them whenever I saw a nice illustration either in a blog or youtube or devianart. But, no one seems to answer to any of my questions. My friend said every successful illustrator have their own secret that they won't really want to share with others. So, I have no other choice but experience it by myself...

Do you guys believe in angels? I do. I believe in magical creatures such as mermaids, angels, fairies, gnomes & etc. I love reading stories about anything magical. I might be too old to be reading fairytales or things like that however, sometimes is nice to know that there is something magical happens around you. It might not need to be real. But, when you come to think about it, it might be exciting & thrilling at the same time.

I love angels...I believe each of us have our own angel looking & guiding after us. They are there right beside us looking over our shoulder. And when time comes, they will use their magical power on us.

I drew a few angels last month. I love the process of drawing the wings. If I draw fairies, I will concentrate more on the wings as well. I tried to make them as pretty & magical as possible.

Handmade 'Take Care' Card for Swee Ling

Part 1- The Card

Hi all. Here is the handmade 'Take Care' Card for Swee Ling. This time I have used a mailbox shape as a card. First of all, I cut out 3 rectangulars from the card. Then, I glued the darker red paper on the card as well as the purple color tag. After that, I glued the owl & a girl on it. Finally, some touch up on the card by drawing some flowers on the darker red paper.

Handmade 'Take Care' Card for Abi & Yogi

Part 1 - Idea's Generation ***********************************************************************************
My friends, Yogi & Abi will be going to Bangalore this Sat. I feel very sad. I won't have anyone to chat & disturb for 3 months..what a torture. I have made these cards for both of them. I spent approximately 1 day doing it.

These cards are easy to make. What you need is get a couple of ideas & send them running. I have drew a few images that I wanted to use in my cards. Then, starts get crazy sticking & gluing things on the card. Not to forget, choose the color of the cards that you want to work on.
No limits, no boundaries just do what you feel like doing until you have expressed on the ideas you have in your mind. Get some ribbons & gold dust if you want to put them in as well.

Part 2 - Gluing, Pasting & Have Fun

This is Yogi's card. I have made a heart shape card. First of all, before I get started, I have been searching high & low for blade. Don't have 1 that time. I poke a few rectangular holes on the card so that I can put in the ribbon (a gold ribbon actually :P) After that, I paste some paper that I have cut using my newly bought pattern scissors. Notice I have pasted some hearts on the card. Lastly, paste the girl & the 'Sending some love' tag on the left hand corner. Tada..there you have it a beautiful handmade card for your friend. Don't forget to drop a few words in the card for them...

This is the card for Abi. This card I have made it as into an envelope. First of all, I have folded the card. Then, I have pasted 2 ribbons on the card. After that, I have pasted the paper that I have cut using the pattern scissors on it. On top of the paper, I have glued a fake ribbon. Lastly, I glued the girl & flowers (made by myself) plus doodle some flowers on the card. Not to mention, scribbled a few words in the card.

Part 3 - Happy Moments

This is my friends reaction when they received the cards...happy I guess. Actually is not a guess, they were actually happy. You can see it on their face. Me too were happy. Sometimes, when you give something that you have spent so much time making it to the people tat you planned to give, you will a lso feel that happiness surrounding you. :p

Hi..I did 2 cards for my friends during Christmas. I have first drawn the images of the snowman used in both of the card on the paper using pencil & later on had it outlined using pilot G-1 pen. After that, I used Copic markers as well as some color pencils on the images.

Hi everyone. Here is my another sketch that was made for Yogi's friend birthday...She asked me to draw just the word 'Happy Birthday' but I ended up drawing more than that. Hehehe....I asked her whether I can draw some more...so I continued to draw till it filled almost 90% of the white space. I love to draw. Once I start, is difficult for me to stop. As what you can see on the previous post, 'What I Did when I'm Bored', I actually started on a teddy bear (bought from Jusco). Then, I ended up adding gifts on the right & candy cane on the left. Then, I added shadows to the picture. And then, I added the word 'Merry Christmas' and a flower thingy (don't exactly know what it is called). Tada....there you have it, a Merry Christmas wish with lots of love from me....:P

This is what I have done when I'm bored....Trying on my new Copic marker with my skills...

It is not just normal boredom but super duper boredom. I really don't know anything about my future. Everythings seems to be extra ordinary blurry from this point of time. My life, my future, my job....I have once wanted to cope with my job but what difference does it makes now. No chance, no opportunity but is more & more towards darkness, confusion & hatred.

What's my future? Should I do something that I like? I'm quite fed up with my job now. I hate coming to work & sitting down here the whole day doing nothing. Feel kinda a big, stupid idiot. I HATE it.

Yesterday, I went to Art Friend, The Garden to buy my supplies. My supplies are Copic Ciao markers. Actually wanted to buy Copic Sketch marker instead of Copic Ciao. But unfortunately, the price of Copic Sketch were way to expensive for me...

2nd Illustration Coloring

This is my 2nd attempt to color illustration. Like the previous post, I color the background color of the image before proceed to the shadows & tones. This colored-lineart is used for this experiment.

This lineart is licensed under GPL ver.2. The details of the lineart are as below:

Color Process Using Adobe Photoshop CS3

Have been always wanted to be able to color illustration just like anime & manga. Today, I finally got the chance to finished 1 of the illustration. :P happy2 me... This is the reference that I have used.

Before shadows & tone can be apply to a picture, it is always advisable to fill the background color of the picture. From there, you can proceed to the shadows & tones to make the picture more realistic. As what you can see from the image below, shadows & tones contribute alot to the details of the picture. This is what everyone should have for the 1st step. Just a flat color image without much details.

After adding shadows & tones on the image, you will be able to create a more realistic & lively picture. Now, background such as sky or grass can be added. I have add on a gradient blue sky rather than just a flat blue color sky.

Illustration using Pen Tool in Adobe Photoshop CS3

I have been wondering how to draw nice illustration using Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. I have been searching online tutorial for so many days. God knows how many days...The first tutorial was found in YouTube. However, it doesn't really help. The video showing the tutorial in fast mode. Can't actually followed the steps. The song played in the video was very nice indeed. I posted a comment asking the author how did he able to make such a smooth line in the illustration as weel as the name of the song. Sadly, there is not reply from him. I'm lucky enough to have someone who actually told me the name of the song.... XD

After a few days of hard work, I finally found out how to do a smooth line actually a nice tone line. Not just in a solid black line but a line that have different tone. hehe. I'm so happyyyyy...

Nice ah? :) By the way, this tracing back the line of a picture is called lineart. Normally, we will be drawing the line of a scanned picture before we starting to color it.

My first comic illustration...the background i got it from internet. I have combined a few background with my illustration. Both the boy & gal i did it on my own.

Before I started on the illustration, I sketched the drawing on a paper. Then, the outline of the sketches was retraced & color using Adobe Illustrator.

Sounds cool from the title. Found it this morning...The prizes also absolutely fabulous & cool...Wanted to have a graphic tablet for so long..(quite expensive actually). Thought of giving it a try..According to the requirements...we can either submit it in jpeg,png,gif, gif animation as well as swf (which means flash).

This is the contest that I'm currently working on. This is 1 of the contests in www.99designs.com. My very first time in designing email template. Didn't actuaaly know what it was at first however the word 'Christmas' make me joined it. For your info, I love Christmas. Maybe because of the white snow, the friendly Santa or maybe the cute snowman. haha. I don't really know why.

Found some reference from the web about email template. Just submitted 1 design so far using the Santa that I have created earlier (reusable component). haha. Take a look at it & please comment....

This is the flash movie that I have created for my dept's head. He is transfer back to India. So, this is a token of remembrance for him. This is the 1st time after 4 years I use Flash for the 1st time....hehe :P.

The graphics & storyboard used were created solely by me....For the animation part, I got some advises & help from my friend, JD. Hope you guys will enjoy it.

Before this, I actually thought of not joining. However, when the due date was postponed, I thought of giving myself a try. Is because of the prizes offered actually.

It is not just a normal Christmas card contest but the designers need to create a comic book theme Christmas card which is actually quite challenging. The toughest part of all, I need to create it in Illustrator. :(

During this contest, I have learned alot about Illustrator. Before this, I really wanted to learn the way to draw character using Illustrator...something like fashion illustration. Now, I know how to use Illustrator to draw a Santa. hehe..a good achievement I should said.

I love to browse through interesting sites that shows different kind of ideas & style in designs..I really wish that someday my designs will improve & have a style that I can call my own, something different from others. Among the designs that I love the most is vector illustrations...abstract or fashion illustration. I love the way a character is drawn & colour with shading & color tone. Vector designs are normally created using Adobe Illustrator. Hmmm....I don't actually know how to use this tool.
